It’s finally happening! 

Saint Joseph’s is building an elevator in 2010!

If you are new to the parish – here’s the story ……

 

Last year we began a major fund raising appeal for an elevator to create access between the church and the parish hall/lower parking lot.  This undertaking was the cornerstone of last year’s Bishop’s Annual Ministry Appeal.  We raised $47,200 for the Bishop and $65,000 for the project.  And, in this New Year we received an elevator donation from one family of $70,000.  With all of our

contributions and gifts we are moving forward on this endeavor with $135,000. 

 

The Catholic Community of Saint Joseph’s is a part of the Diocese of Monterey that provides ministerial resources for our parish. Each year the Bishop requests our support in the mission and ministry of the diocese in a fundraiser entitled “The Bishop’s Annual Ministries Appeal” (BAMA).  All parishes are assigned a goal that is based upon the parish’s offertory income.  Funds raised in excess of this goal are returned to the parish for it’s own use.  This appeal provides us with the capital to undertake major projects that cannot be funded from our weekly collections.  In the past, your generosity to the Bishop’s Appeal has enabled us to implement a multitude of projects including updating and improving our parish sound system, refurbishing all the church pews and renovating our parish restrooms. 

 

This year Saint Joseph’s BAMA assigned goal is $44,600.  The new parish elevator will cost approximately $200,000.   It is our hope this year to completely fund our parish elevator as we begin construction by raising a final $65,000. 

 

We are asking for the help of each and every parishioner by giving your support to this year’s BAMA Fund Raising program.  We have enclosed a Pledge Envelope for you to complete and return to our parish office or during our liturgies in the next few weeks.  We thank you for your presence, your generosity and your prayerful support to provide a church environment where everyone can access the hall and lower parking lot with ease.
