24th Sunday in Ordinary Time
September 13, 2009
"He then began to teach them that the son of man had to suffer much."
Mark 8:31
Dear
Community of Saint Joseph’s; After a great deal of anticipation and planning, this week we finally
will enjoy our fifteenth annual parish Golf Tournament and Dinner Dance. We look forward to a great day when we
gather with all of our friends and neighbors to enjoy playing golf on a beautiful course and then spending the evening
with “The Good, The Bad and the Golfers” in our parish hall. As this is our number one fundraiser for
Saint Joseph’s, I hope you will make time this weekend to extend your support. There are several ways you can be involved: We welcome all golfers:
Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced.
Create your own Foursome or we will be happy to match you up with a
group in your experience level. Come to the dinner dance: Our parish hall will be
transformed into a western hoe-down for a barbeque dinner and dancing. If you are not a golfer you may decide to
attend just the dinner dance. Purchase raffle tickets: We have five wonderful
prizes donated by parishioners so every ticket you buy or sell for Saint
Joseph’s is a financial advantage for the parish. Our grand prize this year
will be a dinner for eight hosted by Father Patrick Dooling and Father Matt
Pennington. Be a Golf Tournament Sponsor: We have several levels of
sponsorship available and if you sponsor in the name of your business we will
promote your company in our Parish Bulletin, Santa Cruz Sentinel newspaper and
all of our Golf Tournament Event Publicity. In order for us to prepare for our big event in a timely manner we ask that
you sign up or purchase tickets in the vestibule after our weekend Masses or at
the parish office by the end of the business day: Monday September 14. Thank you for your enthusiasm. Please know that your support of the Golf Tournament enables Saint
Joseph’s to fund our many parish ministries as well as protect and preserve our
parish building and grounds. This year we will share a portion of our proceeds
with our Saint Vincent de Paul Society in support of the great work they do
here every day. Father Matt Pennington Pastor
