Twenty Second Sunday in Ordinary Time

“If a man wishes to go after me, He must deny his very self”
Matthew 16:24
Dear Community of Saint Joseph’s; “What is a hole sponsorship?” Before coming to Saint Joseph’s I had never been involved with a golf
tournament and did not know what it meant to sponsor a hole at such an
event. In actuality I have been
learning a great deal about tournaments and how they function as fundraisers
for an institution like Saint Joseph’s. When you play a tournament (as I did last year for the first time )
and make your way across the course there are signs posted on the greens
identifying the names of sponsors who support the event. So the golfers see the name of the businesses or individuals as they
play. The sponsor’s names stimulate
discussion, interest and gratitude as we play through the course. Since the Golf Tournament is our main fundraiser, the sponsorships
constitute a major part of our profit.
We only earn a small amount on the golfing fee and nothing on the dinner
tickets. Our real revenue is generated
by sponsors and by the purchasing of the raffle tickets and the silent auction
at the event itself. I ask you to consider being a sponsor for this year’s tournament. Consider
sponsoring in memory of a family member you would like to honor or in the name
of your business or your family. Your
support generates good will and ultimately enables us to continue the
successful funding of Saint Joseph’s ministries. There are four levels of sponsorship this year: $1,000 Platinum Sponsor – 4 golfers with dinners, and full
advertisement benefits. $500 Gold Sponsor –
Full advertisement benefits. $250 Silver Sponsor – Full
advertisement benefits. $150 Bronze Sponsor – Full
advertisement benefits including: hole sponsor signs, acknowledgment in both
our church website and bulletin,
a formal thank you in newspaper and acknowledgment in print at our event. $ Anonymous Giver – The
full joy of giving in secret. No thanks
necessary. Whether you are golfing on September 19 or coming to the dinner or being a
hole sponsor or donating a prize or purchasing or selling raffle tickets – the
involvement and support of each and every parishioner will help to make this year’s event a great
success and another opportunity to build the living body of Christ at Saint
Joseph’s. Father Matt Pennington Pastor
