“I do not know where you come from” Luke 13:27
Dear Community of Saint Joseph’s;
Two weeks ago the parish office was overseeing a large mailing to all of our parishioners that involved collating, folding, labeling and organizing. It was an extremely labor intensive effort that would never have been possible without the support of our parish volunteers. It occurs to me that I need to draw attention to the many generous and dedicated parishioners who come running whenever we express a need.
Saint Joseph’s is made up of nearly eighteen hundred registered families and everything we attempt to accomplish is on a large scale. We would never be able to celebrate liturgy without volunteers, keep the church clean without volunteers, have a golf tournament or schedule religious education classes without a great number of people who give up their valuable free time to help out at the church.
I am grateful for the many people who willingly surrender their free time to help us whenever the need arises. In the spring the parish staff hosted a “thank you dinner” in our parish hall for all our volunteers. It is a structured evening in which we want all of you to know that we appreciate and depend upon you every day. However, I see so many helping on a regular basis that I want you to know every small and great gesture on your part is deeply appreciated and recognized.
Thank you to all who help make Saint Joseph’s the warm, welcoming and sacred place it is. Thank you for helping in the classroom, the church, the office, the parish hall and the golf course. Thank you for saying “yes,” when we call you in the middle of the week or tap your shoulder at Mass on Sunday. Thank you for changing a light bulb or lifting your voice in song or teaching a class or picking up a piece of garbage from the grounds. Thank you for your good will and good humor. In our working together we are enabling our friends, neighbors and visitors the opportunity to experience the mystery of God and life altering love of Jesus Christ.
