"I myself am the bread of life"
John 6:35
Dear Community of
Saint Joseph’s; I want to
take this opportunity to thank and update you on our parish elevator
project. This year as we conducted our Bishop’s
Annual Ministry Appeal (BAMA) we attached an enormous goal of building a
passenger elevator that would create easy access between the church and parish
hall. This elevator has been a
long-term dream for the Saint Joseph’s Community and with your support and
generosity we are on our way. We have met
our parish Diocesan Goal of $47,200 and now all future donations will go
directly to our elevator project. We
have also collected an additional $25,582 exclusively for the elevator and when
we combine that amount with previous donations we have $58,223 toward making
this development a reality. It is a
very ambitious venture in a stressful financial time and yet it is that very
circumstance that would enable us to tackle such an expensive endeavor more
affordably. Some
parishioners have asked questions about a supposed gift/donation to the
elevator project. Many years ago a
former parishioner offered a substantial financial gift to sponsor the elevator
but the money was never actually given and since that time the parishioner has
moved to another part of the country.
We are currently studying the possibility of receiving a grant and would
welcome any suggestions or ideas you might have about continued alternative
funding for the elevator. Large-scale
projects take time to subsidize and I am excited by our progress and very
grateful for the sacrifices you have been willing to make in order to see this
dream become a reality for Saint Joseph’s.
Please keep this project in your prayers and let us know if you have
suggestions regarding further funding. Father Matt
