Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
June 15, 2008
“The harvest is good.”
Matthew 9:37
Father Matt shared the following in his June 8th bulletin
letter: “In every organization there comes
an appropriate time to reflect upon the present and the future. Culture, communication and society continue
to affect us and alter the way we function as individuals, as family and as
church. In other words, the needs of a
community change as time progresses and the only way we can determine how best
to plan for the future is to take its pulse.”
To do this, a group of 25 parishioners were invited to participate
in gathering information utilizing the “Appreciative Inquiry” interview process.
Using a series of focused questions, our team
members conduct one-on-one interviews to discover the strengths and
gifts of our community. In particular, we want to locate, illuminate,
and understand the distinctive values, practices, and gifts we offer as
individuals and as a community as a whole.
What are our effective practices and core strengths? What should we try to preserve? What can we
do to enhance our community and strengthen our faith? The interviews culminate in a two-day Summit to be held October
10th in the evening and October 11th during the day. The Summit is a planning meeting designed to develop the action plan that will allow us to realize
the future we envision. We seek to include as many voices as
possible, to get a full representation of our Parish. This meeting will focus on “Forging our Dynamic Life and Future”
of St. Joseph’s Community. The stories
we collect from you over the coming weeks will be used to help design the
summit so that the gathering will be an opportunity to offer ideas, hopes, and
dreams, and together we can build a community that reflects our shared values
and our highest hopes. This event is a powerful
tool that will help shape the future of St Joseph’s. Your participation in this
process is essential to its success. We
need to hear from you. To arrange for
an interview, please contact Business Manager Barbara Day at 475-8211. Participating in
the interview process does not preclude you from participating in the Summit,
nor does it commit you to attend.
