“He breathed on them and said to them, 'Receive the Holy Spirit'”
John 20:22
Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father
sent me, so I send you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them; “Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them; and whose sins you retain are
retained.” John’s
Gospel Feast of
Pentecost Dear Community of Saint Joseph’s; This year the Feast of Pentecost serves as the transition into the
summertime. I hope you are able to take
time to enjoy the beauty and warmth of the season. As you make your vacation plans and enjoy a relaxed summer
schedule, I hope you will always take time for to feed your spirit with prayer. And to whatever place your travels take you,
seek out the local church and give thanks and praise for the blessings of your
life. Perhaps summer would be a good time to dedicate yourself to meditating on a
passage of Sacred Scripture each day.
You might consider reading a book on spirituality, maybe even giving
some time to an outreach or charity for these vacation months. Think about joining one of our choirs or
spending some sacred time in adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Try something new that feeds your spirit and
helps you to connect with the powerfully positive energy of our God. Whether you are traveling or working throughout these months, be grateful
for living in this beautiful place by the sea, for the freedom to worship in
the church of your choice, for your family and friends, your past and your
future. Father Matt Pennington Pastor
